The management of the University of Strasbourg cancelled a lecture by Rima Hassan entitled ‘The European Union and International Relations’, citing a risk of a breach of public order. Following an appeal by the speaker, the administrative court ruled on 26 November 2024 that this ban constituted an unlawful infringement of freedom of expression. The university subsequently appealed against this decision to the Council of State, in proceedings that were ultimately dropped.
