The rapper Médine was due to perform on 30 October 2025 at the Splendid in Saint-Quentin. According to the artist, the audience were informed of the cancellation even before he had been officially contacted. His booking agent reportedly then told him that they had received a call announcing the town hall’s veto on the concert. On 10 June 2025, Médine publicly condemned this decision and criticised the mayor, Frédérique Macarez, believing that her stance on Gaza, anti-racism and social movements was behind the cancellation. An open letter signed by 150 figures from the worlds of culture, politics, the media and academia subsequently denounced this as ‘political censorship’.
