François Burgat Convicted of “Glorifying Terrorism”

In Aix-en-Provence, François Burgat, a former research director at the CNRS, has been given an eight-month suspended prison sentence for ‘glorifying terrorism’. This ruling stems from legal proceedings initiated following his public statements. Following his appeal, he has now been ordered to pay a fine of €5,000 and has been given an additional penalty of a three-year ban from holding public office. He may still file an appeal with the Court of Cassation to challenge the court's decision.
