Request by the CRIF for a comic book about Gaza to be removed from a bookshop

On March 1, CRIF Auvergne Rhône-Alpes sent a letter to the publishing house Actes Sud expressing regret that Mazen Kerbaj’s graphic novel "Gaza: Can You Really See Us?" is a subjective and activist narrative. CRIF points out the fact that the publishing house is helping to legitimize a biased perception of reality. In response, Actes Sud rejects CRIF’s dichotomy between ideology and truth and refuses to allow any outside interference in its editorial decisions.

In a second letter sent to an anonymized bookstore, CRIF Auvergne Rhône-Alpes requested that Mazen Kerbaj’s graphic novel be removed from the store’s shelves, explaining that the work “is not merely an expression of opinion: it calls for the negation of Israel and fuels hate speech.”
