On 27 November 2023, the administration of Miguel Hernández University (UMH) suspended the CSO-UMH union branch's ability to email the university community through its mailing lists.

According to the union, the administration justified the measure by pointing to two statements. The first, dated 24 October 2023, called for the resignation of the vice-rector for infrastructure in a dispute over the management of the Altabix cafeteria. The second called for a rally on 29 November 2023, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, outside the Altabix building; the administration reportedly considered that such statements had no place in the university setting.

The measure followed an earlier episode: on 17 October 2023, the union had sent the entire university community a text on Palestine entitled "Olvidemos" ("Let us forget"). The next day, the vice-rectorate for infrastructure sent a general email reminding everyone that the mailing lists were reserved for information related to university and institutional activity. CSO-UMH denounces an attack on freedom of expression and on its right to inform the university community. In 2024, it said it had been denied access to the lists for four months; the sources consulted report no legal challenge.
