In November, the Paris City Council and the Île-de-France Regional Council voted against the allocation of two grants totaling €500,000 to forty independent bookstores across the region. The funding was intended to help these establishments carry out renovation and improvement works. Elected officials from the right-wing group Changer Paris, who opposed the measure, justified their decision by pointing to the inclusion among the beneficiaries of bookstores that had expressed support for Palestine, such as La Petite Égypte and Violette and Co. The latter was notably accused of antisemitism for carrying the coloring book From the River to the Sea. Following a second vote, the grants were ultimately approved on December 18, 2025.
