In Lyon, Lumière Lyon 2 University had its regional funding suspended following a decision by Laurent Wauquiez, who cited an alleged ‘Islamo-leftist drift’ in the wake of tensions surrounding a cancelled lecture. This decision was challenged, and on 7 April 2026 the Regional Audit Office ruled that the suspension did not comply with the rules governing the allocation of grants. Funding was therefore reinstated for the university.
