Fatima, an elementary school teacher, was fired in October 2025 by the Luxembourg Ministry of Education after being accused of posting “anti-Semitic” content on her Instagram account. Prior to her dismissal, she had been summoned by the ministry in August to explain herself and had argued that her posts were intended to “denounce war crimes in Gaza or elsewhere,” while emphasising that she makes a distinction between “Jews” and “Zionists” “so that Jews never face hatred because of Israel’s actions.” The ministry declined to comment on the reasons for the dismissal but did reiterate the limits of freedom of expression, including for employees of the Ministry of Education.
